Do GOBA, do good
Our mission says it all: GOBA was created in 1989 to organize a yearly one-week bicycle vacation, in order to inspire independence and nurture personal growth; to promote learning about Ohio, its people, geography and history; to provide inter-generational recreation; to enhance the image of bicycling in Ohio; and to raise funds for bicycle-related projects in Ohio.
Proceeds from past GOBAs have gone toward grants to expand bicycling opportunities across the state.
You can further GOBA’s mission by adding a donation along with your GOBA registration. Columbus Outdoor Pursuits has 501(c)(3) status. Contributions are tax deductible and you will receive an acknowledgement.
- Make your donation check payable to: Columbus Outdoor Pursuits.
- Mail to: 1193 S. Front Street, Columbus, OH 43206
One of our largest beneficiaries has been the Ohio to Erie Trail, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to a continuous off-road trail from Cincinnati to Cleveland, which is nearly complete. For more details on the Ohio to Erie Trail, see ohiotoerietrail.org.
Columbus Outdoor Pursuits
GOBA is an event of Columbus Outdoor Pursuits, a volunteer-based participatory organization created to provide opportunities and education for outdoor recreation and activities. While perhaps best known for its bicycle tours — the Tour of the Scioto River Valley (TOSRV), GOBA and XOBA — COP also features a comprehensive program of activities and education in bicycling and bicycling safety, leadership training, flat- and white-water boating, backpacking and other modes of outdoor recreation. For more information or to become a member, visit the COP website.
