GOBA has provided a safe, family-friendly, perfect introduction to extended bicycle touring for 35 years. NOTICE: CORONAVIRUS AND GOBA

We anticipate that the COVID pandemic will not impact GOBA 2024. However, we will remain vigilant of any recurrences and honor any directives from the State of Ohio and/or the counties and municipalities we plan to visit.  We will not impose mandates beyond those directed as above. Our first priority is the health and safety of participants and the communities we visit. Outdoor Pursuits retains the option to cancel or downsize GOBA 2024 if a pandemic warrants.

GOBA 35 – The Doughnut Trail – In search of doughnuts and adventure in southwest Ohio! Come join the weeklong adventure that is a perfect full-service introduction to extended bicycle touring.

GOBA will celebrate its 35th year of providing a safe bicycling adventure in a different region of Ohio each year. Every year is different! GOBA is a destination tour that attracts fun-loving cyclists from across the country; In 2023, riders came from 37 states and 3 foreign countries. Join us from June 15-22, 2024, on a bicycling voyage to the region of beautiful countryside, buckeyes, covered bridges, and doughnuts!

We’ll cycle through three counties in southwestern Ohio – Darke, Preble and Butler. Additionally, our cycling routes will cross into Indiana on several days. We’ll stay in four host communities – Eaton, Oxford, Hamilton, and Arcanum.

The Doughnut Trail – Butler County has featured a “Donut Trail” with 13 bakeries as a popular tourism attraction for the past decade. Arcanum was the original host community of the country’s largest Tour de Donut cycling event. We’ll develop our routes to incorporate a “quest” challenge to earn some form of doughnut swag.

The region offers exceptional cycling opportunities. Additionally, most of our 2024 host communities have hosted GOBA in years past, so they’re eager, and capable, to meet the needs of our 1,200+ cyclists.

NEW in 2024!!

Our friends in Eaton will offer their 20th annual single day bicycle tour – Buckeye Bridge Ride – on the first Saturday of GOBA. So, this allows GOBA to expand the cycling opportunities in 2024 to offer an EXTRA DAY of riding and/or a new weekend-only option! The Buckeye Bridge Ride starts right in GOBAville at the Preble County Fairgrounds and supports the scholarship fund for the Preble County 4H.

“GOBA +1” will allow GOBA riders to check-in on Friday evening and enjoy the Buckeye Bridge Ride on Saturday. The registration cost for “GOBA +1” only adds an additional $30 fee, which is passed directly to the Buckeye Bridge Ride.

“GOBA Weekend” is a new offering for those that may want to try their first overnight cycling weekend, or those not able to spend a whole week on GOBA. “GOBA Weekend” riders will enjoy Saturday’s Buckeye Bridge Ride, camp in GOBAville, and then enjoy GOBA’s Sunday loop ride. These riders will enjoy the GOBA infrastructure and whatever meals are offered during the weekend. They’ll get a glimpse of GOBA’s unique atmosphere…hopefully to return for a full week of GOBA in the future!

GOBA provided five meals as part of the registration fee in 2023. We’ll again provide up to five meals (2 dinners & 3 breakfasts) in the host communities of Eaton and Arcanum. Everyone finds this arrangement convenient, satisfying, and easy to manage. GOBA embeds a $55 surcharge in the registration fee to subsidize these meals.

On GOBA you set your own pace while making memories with family, friends and up to 1,500 other riders. The itinerary is designed to showcase the area's treasures, both natural and man-made, for cyclists of all ages and interests.

GOBA will have four "mandatory" riding days and three layover days, giving you more opportunities to sightsee, do optional rides or just sleep in. The terrain in this region is generally flat.

GOBA also gives you more choices on how far to ride. Want a challenge? Ride every day on fully supported routes, including an optional 100-mile century test, for a total of about 400 miles. Looking for less? Skip the three layover day rides and use our supported shortcuts on the routes between the three host towns to reduce the distance to about 160 miles for the week. Add the new “GOBA +1” Buckeye Bridge Ride option and enjoy an extra day of riding for another 15-75 miles!

As always, outdoor camping is a fun part of the GOBA experience. We sleep in tents at schools, parks and fairgrounds while enjoying the hospitality of the towns we visit. Your registration fee includes luggage trucks that transport your gear as you bike from town to town, and modern shower trucks that keep the hot water flowing all week.

Don't like to camp? GOBA sells car-camper parking passes for RVs and trailers, and all of our overnight towns provide indoor sleeping space on a floor for an additional fee. And there are multiple hotels within 5-10 miles of the four GOBA camps.

Don't have a tent or don't like setting up one? You can purchase "deluxe" and "community" camping services, with two levels of pampering. And all riders can purchase towel service or rent a chair.

Sign up for GOBA before the early-bird deadline at midnight EDT on Sunday February 4, 2024 to get the best price and be sure to add GOBA jerseys, T-shirts and other valuable extras. And buy a $5 raffle ticket for a chance to win a free registration and other perks as Rider 35.

Join us on the quest for doughnuts and big adventure on GOBA 35!

REDEEMING 2020 GOBA DEFERRALS

The cancellation of the 2020 GOBA at the onset of the COVID pandemic had a significant financial impact on our operation. Outdoor Pursuits had already expended significant resources for staffing, planning, and non-refundable contractual obligations associated with GOBA. We are grateful for our participants’ patience and flexibility during this truly unprecedented time.

Thanks to your cooperation with the deferral-redemption proccess in 2022 & 2023, we have ensured the continuity of GOBA into the future. If you still hold a deferral registration and would like to utilize it in 2024, please send an e-mail to goba@outdoor-pursuits.org to request a redemption code.

*2024 – 5 meals included* –  After the success of including several meals in remote host communities as part of the GOBA registration, we’ll do the same in 2024. If you’re utilizing a deferred registration, you’ll be required to pay the $55 surcharge to cover the costs of these five meals in 2024.

GOBA MEMORIES

Memories are made during GOBA, and each year our photographers capture them. One way to get a sneak preview of the fun and adventure GOBA offers is to look at the photo albums from year’s past, including a 24-page scrapbook that documents the eight days of the most recent GOBA in 2019. Graphics, quotes, notes and artist Deborah Rubenstein’s compelling design also help tell the story. The booklet is both a keepsake for 2019 participants and a sneak preview for anyone considering their first GOBA, showing the fun and adventure that await. Enjoy!
